Since a little while after discovering Kurt's death, I started hearing things about how nobody wanted to play music anymore, and I think Thurston Moore said this as well, that them and all the rest of the bands just didn't feel right about playing music because it was like their leader had died. I guess this is why a lot of bands broke up. I get it, I mean I would probably do the same thing. I can't imagine continuing on with music after the guy that helped make all of us famous and was one of us and was saying everything we were saying and was the reason all of us had jobs right now dies, but somebody somewhere should have said "No, you know what, this just means that we should have MORE good musicians today, and make sure this style of music never goes away, now that the big guy is dead. We should do it for the children, to preserve good music and grunge and alternative rock for generations to come, because now that Kurt is dead, it would be easy for this stuff to go away and music to become bad once again." I know that sounds like it would take someone looking into the future to say that, but hey, it is what happened and somebody along the way should have predicted it in time to stop it. The phrase "Won't Somebody PLEASE think of the children" comes to mind.

All we HAVE is the internet!
So I've been thinking a lot recently. it's really sad how because we have the internet now people think that we don't need stuff like MTV or word of mouth, or that they think everything is on the internet WHICH IS SO FAR FROM THE TRUTH! Us kids today aren't lucky that we have the internet, we HAVE to like and use the internet because THAT'S ALL WE HAVE!!! It's like the kid that has a stick to play with, but it cherishes it because it has nothing else. Apparently MTV would bring the music to you, and frankly I WOULD LOVE THAT!!!, but with the internet you have to know what you are looking for before you type it into the search bar to look for it, and for some reason people think that because we have the internet, we can just do away with all the old school ways of doing things. As someone once said "We didn't need the internet back then because it was just that much of a better world to live in."
What we REALLY should be doing is using the internet as a tool to our advantage by using it side by side with the older ways, and adding MORE word of mouth, and MORE channels like how MTV used to be with 24hrs of music videos plus music related shows, and record/CD stores and music clubs and thrift stores, so that someone can have a WAY easier time of hearing about something first, and then go and look it up and favorite on youtube and watch it whenever we like. I think it has to do with the older people enabling this horrid generation because it's the "technological" age and apparently that is so special, and they all want to be "hip" like the kids of today. WELL YOU'RE NOT HELPING BY NOT SHOWING THE KIDS THE WAY THINGS USED TO BE AND THE BANDS PEOPLE USED TO LISTEN TO! After all, the only word of mouth I ever saw was kids talking about the people that were already as famous as they can get. No one ever mentioned anyone underground or that wasn't already in the spotlight.
I mean for goodness sake, I've looked at a phone book maybe 3 times in my life, so when it came time to look for jobs, all I did was a ton of internet searching, because that's all people told me to do, and then it took watching a Nirvana interview with Kurt talking about how you can look up record stores in your phone book to see if your local record stores carry indie albums or fanzines, to make me think of looking at phone book, which resulted in many places I did not find on the internet, as did just driving around, since mainly the big chains have websites so the small stores you won't be able to find easily on the internet. This also begs the question, I wonder how many kids looked something up on the internet but if they had looked at an actual encyclopedia or what have you they would have gotten a better answer or something closer to their tastes they were looking for, but they did't because all people say today is "Google it"?

Grunge veterans bashing this generation/a new revolution soon?
So I was on a grunge forum thread a while ago about how Chris Cornell said in an interview that "Contemporary pop couldn't be worse"

and one of my friends there was talking about how funny it is that these grunge bands are coming back AGAIN and reviving good music AGAIN, and I started to think about it, and she's sort of right.
I actually always wanted them to come back and talk about how our generation sucks, and I even go to the lengths of well when on the Alice in Chains forums they said that Duff Mckagan and Sean Kinney are having their own radio show, and to email the with questions, I sent in an email asking them to talk about how bad my generation is and the music of today because I'm so tired of no one talking about how so much of it sucks and NOT EVERYONE listens to bieber and subscribes to the emo/pop/glossy rap/reality shows/social media/vampires/synthesizers/autotune/skinny jeans/shallow 2000s, as well as commenting the same type of thing on a comment Gavin Rossdale (or at least he said he was Gavin) left on the music video for Swallow by Bush, saying the veterans who already have fame could do a lot if they mention how tons of kids feel alienated by Generation Y, and it's pretty empty today and whatnot, so I guess I got my wish because not only did Chris Cornell say that up there, but Dave Grohl said in an interview that the scene of today is basically like it was in the 80s before Nevermind came out (which is what I've been saying for years) and we need a new rock revolution

and I keep hearing that Billy Corgan always says stuff like that as well, and here's the kicker, maybe a week ago, I saw this story of Patty Schemel talking about how while she was touring as she was promoting her new film, she saw all these young 20-somethings that were loving grunge, and she said a quote I love that the reason why is “Maybe it’s a backlash to what’s going on with pop music today—everything is so packaged and slick. Something dirty needs to show up,”, and the article was titled "Grunge Comes Back With a Vengeance"

so perhaps it actually is time for grunge to come back, I mean I know that bieber kid is not as popular as he was before, and heck, even One Direction I feel no one is really talking about anymore when they were supposed to be the next big thing, and it feels like it's another time for pop to go down, just like it did in 2002, 2003 after Backstreet Boys, N'sync, and Britney Spears started to lose popularity.
My friend on that one thread mentioned how sad it is that the older rockers have to do this again when it's OUR generation that should be doing this, and my thoughts are that there ARE tons of kids our age doing just that, heck my page for newer grunge bands
